Most students begin exploring industries and roles early in their first semester, attend events and PDL sessions during the first year, and actively apply for internships or full-time roles based on program-specific timelines.

Graduate students can book recurring advising appointments with their Career Placement Officer, subject to availability and any program-specific guidelines. Check your department’s career page or the Graduate Career Hub for details.

MS and PhD students have access to core tools such as Career Connect, PDL sessions, Big Interview, GoinGlobal, and Vault, while some department-specific workshops and advising models may differ by program.

Recent alumni typically retain access to selected career tools and advising for a limited period after graduation; check the Engineering Careers site or contact the office for current alumni eligibility details.

Career tools such as Career Connect are generally available once you have an active Columbia Engineering account and have completed any required onboarding steps; prospective students should plan to use public resources until their Columbia credentials are active.
